• I am a user interface developer [what's that?], working with the Visual Communication Lab at IBM Research. I received my master's degree in human-computer interaction at Georgia Tech in 2006.

  • In the past I've worked as a computer programmer and designer, focusing on enabling people to work with large, complicated sets of information. This has included military, financial, supply-chain management, and health science applications.

  • My current interests include physical computing, information architecture, mobile devices, online communities, and user interface design. I'm a fan of (but not an expert in) emergent behavior, urban planning, architecture, and industrial design. Someday, I will tie all of this together. Just you wait.

  • This is my resume.

  • I also went to Carnegie Mellon University, where I studied computer science and poetry.

  • I'm married to somebody wonderful, who I first met in high school.

  • I am a minimalist.

  • My playlists are typically goth, industrial, electronic, ambient, and / or the occasional bit of country.

  • I usually beat a professional soccer player in my Google rankings, but can't seem to top a philosophy professor. I usually end up on the first page though.

  • In 7th grade, I received a "Political Critic of the Year" award from the 8th graders.

  • I am half-Irish, half-Slovak. My tattoos are Irish, but I cook pierogies and paprikash more often than corned beef and cabbage.

  • Most of the time, I survive by believing that people have the compassion and intelligence to make a better world for themselves.

  • I used to keep a blog, but it's dormant for now. Still, you might like to read about our engagement or my time in Iraq.
