Margaret Hassan Dead
Aid worker Margaret Hassan believed dead after TV receives video of woman’s slaying
Animals. Filth. Lower than filth. I’ve tried to keep a level head about things like the security contractor murders, but killings like this are worthy of nothing but a bullet.
I learned last summer that there is capital-E-Evil in the world. While it’s important to remember that the Iraqi insurgency is not by any means a unified resistance (and thus we can’t blame any random fighter for things like this), this is a reminder of what we’re up against. They shoot Iraqi schoolchildren who go to schools built by the Americans. During gas shortages, they build IEDs inside gas cans to target desperate Iraqi civilians. The term “Anti-Iraqi Forces” used by the USA is not just a euphemism. These things (I hesitate to call them “people”) are the instruments of Iraq’s agonizing suicide. They’ll be the ones in power if we give up on Iraq.
Bush chose this fight for us, and I’ll damn him until the day I die for it. But horrors like this serve as reminders that we have to finish it.
