Accommodations in the Area
Warning: The Midcoast area of Maine is a very popular summer tourist destination, and that includes Labor Day Weekend. Moreover, Labor Day Weekend is Windjammer Weekend in Camden, the area’s hub. This means that accommodations will fill up early and are at the high season cost. It would not be unreasonable to book in June (or earlier!).
We have reserved a block of rooms in the Cedar Crest Motel in Camden for the nights of Friday, September 2nd and Saturday, September 3rd. The discounted rates are $134 for a Deluxe (2 Queens, mini-fridge). Price includes state sales tax of 7%. There is a $10/pp charge for additional people over double occupancy.
In order to get the discount, you must make reservations by phone (1-800-422-4964) and mention that you are part of the Jones-McKeon wedding party. Reservations must be made no later than 6 weeks in advance (July 20th), but if you want to reserve additional days, you should call as early as possible since it is such a busy weekend.
The Motel is a 20 minute drive from the church and a 10 minute drive from the reception site. It is right near a supermarket and drug store and a 15 minute walk into downtown Camden.
If you want something different/ cheaper/ more quaint/ etc. or just want to find it yourself, a pretty much comprehensive resource is the Camden-Rockport-Lincolnville Chamber of Commerce website that includes a search for lodging.
You probably want to stay in Lincolnville, Camden, or Rockport. Rockland is a little further away.
One nice option that is less expensive but less convenient is the Snow Hill Lodge for $65 or $75 double occupancy. The Lodge is about a 10 minute drive from Camden, 15 minutes from the church and a 25 minute drive from the reception site.
Many of the accommodations in the area are historic B&Bs, inns, and cottages. There are also a few motels and hotels. There are also many weekly rental cottages and houses in the area if you would like to make an extended vacation of it. These can all be found on the CoC website (above).
Feel free to contact us if you have questions about potential places to stay, especially suggestions for a longer term rental.
